HANDS-ON WORK
For most students, private in-person lessons with hands-on work are the most effective and efficient way to learn.
- In-person lessons involve chair work, table work, and some daily life application work.
- There may be a possibility of Zoom lessons after a number of in-person lessons.
- In-person lessons are in a mask-friendly space with HEPA filtration.
NUMBER OF LESSONS NEEDED
A course of lessons is generally needed to build a solid foundation for more self-efficacy and significant change.
- The exact number of lessons needed depends on each student's particular needs.
- In studies for PD, longer-lasting benefits tend to be seen after at least 24 lessons. But laboratory studies show that even a single exposure to AT principles can be immediately helpful for
students with PD.
LESSONS WITH CARE PARTNERS
It may be possible for care partners to join lessons.
- After an eight-week pilot study of 16 sessions with people living with PD and their care partners learning together, participants reported feeling their relationships had improved.
